Nacho Monreal to STAY with Gunners as Real Sociedad pull out of deal to sign defender
It looked as if the 32-year-old Spain international would be leaving north London after six years
Nacho Monreal will stay at Arsenal this summer after Real Sociedad pulled the plug on a potential deal for the 32-year-old.
Monreal, the left-back, is now into his seventh season with the Gunners after being one of their standout performers in a disappointing campaign last time out.
There were suggestions the Spain international could be one of the players earmarked to leave the Emirates following Unai Emery’s appointment as the new Arsenal manager, and a return to his homeland has been mooted.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Monreal will likely remain in north London next season after the favourites to sign him, Real Sociedad, pulled out of a potential deal.
Monreal, who played for Osasuna and Malaga before joining Arsenal in 2013, has made over 200 appearances for the Gunners over the last six years.
Emery has been busy strengthening Arsenal’s squad this summer, but selling Monreal would leave Sead Kolasinac as the only senior left-back on the Gunners’ books.
