Juve are said to have rejected Chelsea’s offer to sign the 24-year-old centre-back

Chelsea have submitted a bid to sign Juventus defender Mattia Caldara, according to reports.

Caldara, the centre-back, has yet to make an appearance for Juve following his arrival at the club in January 2017. He came through Atalanta’s impressive academy and established himself as one of Serie A’s best defenders at the Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, before Juve bought him and loaned him back to Atalanta until the summer of 2018.

He is now back at Juve for pre-season, but there are questions being raised about his future as Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are interested in the 24-year-old.

In fact, according to Calciomercato, the Blues have already made an official approach for Caldara, submitting a bid worth around £27million (€30m).

However, Juventus do not want to sell the Italy international and are said to have instantly rejected the bid.

Caldara is not the only Juve defender Chelsea are hoping to sign this summer, with a deal to bring Daniele Rugani to Stamford Bridge in the works.
