The Senegal international has worn ’19’ on his back since arriving in 2016
Sadio Mane will wear no.10 for Liverpool next season, the club have confirmed.
The Senegal international has worn no.19 on his back since arriving from Southampton in a £34million transfer in 2016. The no.10 shirt was vacated by Philippe Coutinho, who moved to Barcelona in January.
A statement on liverpoolfc.com read: “Liverpool FC will offer supporters who have purchased a 2018-19 replica shirt printed with ‘Mane 19’ a like-for-like exchange for a ‘Mane 10’ jersey.
Supporters who wish to exchange their shirt must do so before Friday August 17, 2018. Any shirts received after this date will not be valid for an exchange.”
Earlier in the summer, new signing Naby Keita was handed Steven Gerrard’s iconic no.8 shirt by the man himself.
“It was an incredible day for me. He gave me the No.8 jersey. When it happened, it was a surprise and I didn’t expect it,” the midfielder said.
“When he came in, I looked at him and said, ‘wow’ because he is a legend. He is somebody who always showed respect, who gave his all on the pitch, somebody who is loved here.
“If somebody like that gives you his shirt number, it’s not to play around with, it is to try and do as much as he did – that’s my motivation.”
