The former Manchester United midfielder had surgery on a long-standing Achilles problem
Tom Cleverley will miss the start of Watford’s Premier League season after undergoing an operation.
The midfielder has suffered with a long-term Achilles injury, finally going under the knife to fix the problem.
The 28-year-old admitted he wanted to be back in boss Javi Gracia’s side by the Autumn.
“This is something I’ve put up with during my career so it’s good to get it sorted,” he told the club’s official website.
“I had been used to playing with pain in my ankle. Now that’s going to be a thing of the past, I’ll be fit and raring to win my place back once I’ve finished my rehab.”
The Hornets may be forced to delve into the transfer market to boost their midfield options, with Richarlison seemingly set to leave.
The Brazilian playmaker is the subject of a reported £50million bid from Everton.
Former boss Marco Silva is keen to bring the 21-year-old to Goodison Park, having signed him for £11.5million last summer.
