Celtic are to sign Australia wonderkid Daniel Arzani on loan after the 19-year-old completes a permanent transfer to Manchester City.

Arzani, the attacking midfielder, is set to join Premier League champions City from Melbourne, who are also owned by City Football Group.

However, Arzani will be immediately shipped out on loan by the Etihad Stadium club, with the Daily Record saying he will sign for Celtic on a loan deal running to the end of the 2019/20 season.

Discussions have already taken place over Arzani’s two-year temporary stay at Parkhead, with the player preferring the move to City knowing the loan move guarantees him first-team football for the next two campaigns.

Roma, of Italy’s Serie A, and Dutch side PSV Eindhoven were also linked with making a move for Arzani this summer.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Iran, is rated as one of the best players to ever come out of Australian football, and he’s already won five caps for his country – three of which were earned at this summer’s World Cup.

Arzani is not the first player to have made the move from Australia to Man City, just to be loaned out immediately upon arriving in England. Aaron Mooy, the midfielder, was bought by City in June 2016 but moved to Huddersfield on a temporary basis six days later. Following the Terriers’ promotion to the Premier League in 2017, David Wagner’s side signed Mooy on a permanent basis.
