The 29-year-old moved to Serie A from Lyon last summer
Crystal Palace have bid £8.8m to sign midfielder Maxime Gonalons from Roma, according to reports in Italy.
The Eagles want to bolster their options in the middle of the park this summer after Yohan Cabaye left for Al-Nasr on a free and Ruben Loftus-Cheek returned to Chelsea at the end of his loan.
Palace had been looking at former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, but he ended up joining West Ham United.
The club have also been linked with West Ham’s Cheikhou Kouyate, Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater, Liverpool’s Marko Grujic and ex-Schalke free agent Max Meyer.
But now, according to Sport Mediaset, Crystal Palace have sumbitted an £8.8m bid for Gonalons.
The French midfielder has long been linked with a move to England and he was once a target for Arsenal during his time at Lyon.
He is now on Crystal Palace’s radar and they are hoping a deal can be done by the start of next week.
