Everton fan Joey Barton has admitted it’s ‘nervous times’ for the club’s supporters as he backs Liverpool to go close in the Premier League title race.
The Reds have been on a summer spending spree, splurging £175million on four superstars to bolster their squad.
Boss Jurgen Klopp has added Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson, and Xherdan Shaqiri to his group, which is already chock full of talent.
And Barton, now manager of Fleetwood Town, a life-long Toffees fan believes their Merseyside rivals could be on the cusp of something very special at Anfield.
He told talkSPORT: “When we look across Stanley Park, no matter what any of us say, and see the big German [Jurgen Klopp], the style they’re playing, and the way they have invested again – it’s nervous times for Evertonians.
“I honestly think they could get really close to their first title in 20-odds years. It will be really close.”
