Micky Quinn believes Dejan Lovren is the only thing standing between Liverpool and total ‘world domination’.

Quinn, the talkSPORT co-host, is a famous Liverpool fan, and he’s excited for the Premier League season to start after a great summer for the Reds.

Having reached last term’s Champions League final, Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, has worked hard to improve his already brilliant squad, with the most glaringly weak areas strengthened.

The Reds’ midfield has become one of the best in Europe with the additions of Naby Keita and Fabinho, while Xherdan Shaqiri, signed from Stoke, provides some much-needed cover in the attacking positions.

However, no deal has made as much an impact as the signing of Alisson, the Brazil goalkeeper, from Roma. Loris Karius almost single-handedly lost Liverpool the Champions League final, and now the Reds have gone from having one of the worst glovesman in the Premier League top 10, to one of the top three in the entire division.

It’s no wonder Liverpool fans want the campaign to get under way as soon as possible, and Quinn is part of that group.

However, he does still think one player is preventing Liverpool from becoming an all-conquering side the likes of which have not been seen at Anfield since the 1980s – Dejan Lovren.

In fact, if Klopp was to replace Lovren, Quinn believes Liverpool wouldn’t just dominate the Premier League, they would dominate everything else as well.

“I’m excited now for this coming season,” Quinn said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“Don’t forget we got Virgil van Dijk in in January, so he’s bedded in now.

“We’ve got goals up front, a midfield to die for, Trent [Alexander-Arnold] at right-back and [Andy] Robertson at left-back, and a goalkeeper at last!

“Dejan Lovren is the weakest link. If they got a centre-back to partner Van Dijk, then I think it would be world domination for Liverpool Football Club.”
