Spurs left-back insists team-mates aren’t worried about how otherteams have strengthened this summer
Tottenham Hotspur star Ben Davies has insisted new signing won’t necessarily make their rivals better.
Spurs are the only team in the top six not to sign a single player so far this summer, while the likes of Liverpool have spent world-record sums on transfers.
But the Welsh left-back has insisted signing new stars won’t always make rivals stronger, especially as the Lilywhites have retained their top men like Harry Kane and got them to pen new contracts.
“It doesn’t worry us. We’ve got a good squad here and even on this pre-season tour here so far the boys have put in good performances,” he said.
“It doesn’t worry us. We see all the teams around us adding but that’s football. We don’t worry about that. All we have to worry about is what goes on behind closed doors for us.”
He added: “I think we showed that we could [compete with the Manchester clubs]. The squad is the same at the moment but we’ve got a lot of quality here and if we can show that again this season, of course the teams around us are going to strengthen but new faces doesn’t necessarily mean that teams are going to be better.
“All these teams and top sides just having new faces [compared to] last year doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to be a better team to play against.”
