The Swedish coach reveals he is a boyhood Reds fan – just like his 90-year-old Dad!
Former England and Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed he is a boyhood Liverpool fan.
The 70-year-old Swede took charge of England from 2001-2006, taking the Three Lions to three major tournaments, and later managed Manchester City and Leicester in the Premier League.
But Sven has said he has ‘always’ supported the Reds due to his father’s love of the club – something he could never admit when he was a coach in England.
Currently out of a job since leaving China League One side Shenzhen FC last year, Sven says he still mainly watches Premier League football.
But while many are tipping his beloved Reds for the title this season, he believes former club Man City are still favourites.
“I’ve always been a Liverpool fan,” Eriksson said.
“I can say that now, I couldn’t say that when I was in England but I was always since I was [young].
“My father as well, he is 90, still a Liverpool fan.
“But, I still think City will win it.”
