Steve Bruce is keen to add the 20-year-old England international to his squad as he targets promotion
Aston Villa are hoping to clinch the signing of Tammy Abraham.
The Football League transfer window for loan signings closes at 5pm on Friday and Villa are working to tie up a deal for the Chelsea striker ahead of the deadline.
The signing of Abraham, 20, will represent a significant coup for the Championship club as they target promotion back to the Premier League.
He was a revelation during his last spell in the Championship, netting 23 times in 41 games for Bristol City in 2016/17.
Abraham spent last season on loan at Swansea City, scoring five goals in 31 Premier League appearances, and was called into the senior England squad.
He had been hoping to break into the Chelsea first team this season but is behind Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud in the pecking order.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri said he would be happy for Abraham to stay at Stamford Bridge for the season.
But Abraham is keen for action and is ready to join Villa on a deal until January.
He would be the second big loan signing made by Steve Bruce this month.
The Villa boss has also brought in winger Yannick Bolasie from Everton.
