The Premier League champions have forked out £420,000 for the 16-year-old
Manchester City have beaten Chelsea and Tottenham to the signature of goalkeeping prodigy Gavin Bazunu.
Bazunu, 16, was Shamrock Rovers’ first choice at the start of the season and kept four consecutive clean sheets.
And the Premier League champions forked out £420,000 for his services – a record for a non-professional in Ireland.
The deal includes add-ons if the Irishman does achieve big things with City in the future.
Before signing for City, Bazunu visited the training grounds of all three clubs as well as talking with officials at Spurs, Chelsea and City.
Spurs will be surprised they failed to land Bazunu due to their relationship with Shamrock Rovers after facing each other in the Europa League in 2011.
Bazunu has yet to finish his exams in Ireland and he will remain there until either January or next summer.
