How will Newcastle return after the international break?
Newcastle continue their tough start to the 2018/19 season with a match against Arsenal this weekend, live on talkSPORT 2.
The Magpies have picked up just one point from their first four games of the new campaign and lost their last two fixtures.
Rafael Benitez’s side began the season with a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham. They then drew 0-0 at Cardiff before consecutive losses against Chelsea and Manchester City.
Below is how we expect Newcastle to line up:
Rafael Benitez has said he is quite optimistic that Jonjo Shelvey will return to the side for the Arsenal match after resuming training with the first team this week.
However, Matt Ritchie, is still with the physio, so Ayoze Perez may start on Newcastle’s left again with Kenedy switched to the right.
Florian Lejeune remains a long-term absentee and we are yet to hear news on Javi Manquillo.
It is also worth noting that the final games of DeAndre Yedlin and Salomon Rondon’s international breaks kicked off in the early hours of Wednesday morning UK time.
Rondon was with Venezuela in Panama while Yedlin was with the USA.
Both face long journeys back and so might be hard-pressed to start on Saturday, though at this stage we have included them in our XI regardless.
