Mane was taken to hospital upon picking up an injury in training ahead of Senegal’s match against Sudan
Liverpool have been dealt a further injury blow with Sadio Mane set to miss Saturday’s Premier League clash against Huddersfield with a broken thumb.
Mane, the forward, was taken to hospital having picked up an injury in Senegal training, ahead of the country’s match vs Sudan.
While the blow is not believed to be serious, Mane was forced to sit out Senegal’s match, and early reports suggest he will miss Liverpool’s upcoming fixture against the Terriers, which takes place on Saturday evening LIVE on talkSPORT.
Mane’s injury is the latest blow to Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, who is already sweating on the fitness of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and James Milner ahead of the Premier League’s return.
Salah, the Egypt forward, picked up a muscle strain in his country’s 4-0 defeat of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland), while Van Dijk suffered a blow to his ribs as the Netherlands secured a win over Germany.
Milner is suffering from a hamstring injury which forced him off just 28 minutes into Liverpool’s draw with Manchester City in the final league match before the current international break. He is facing up to a month out of action, and is not expected to return before the clash at Arsenal on November 3.
Salah and Van Dijk will be monitored ahead of Liverpool’s clash this weekend, with early reports suggesting the former could miss out.
