Pep Guardiola was understandably in high spirits after his Manchester City side beat Liverpool 2-1 at the Etihad, breathing new life into the Premier League title race.
Sergio Aguero’s powerful effort gave the reigning champions the lead just before half-time but Roberto Firmino’s header made it 1-1 on 64 minutes.
However, Leroy Sane’s low effort saw City retake the lead and they managed to hold on for the win and inflict a first league defeat of the season on leaders Liverpool.
The result also saw the Citizens close the gap on the Reds to just four points and Guardiola also said he was determined to see City retain their Premier League crown.
Guardiola said: “It is one of the happiest days in my life and for my players.
“They [the players] are the artists, the people come to see them and we were together to achieve something unique.
“Most of the Premier League teams have fallen down [and failed to retain their Premier League title] and we are still there. That’s why I give a lot of credit to do what we have done.”
